Hello!
We have some exciting news. Last week we were challenged by A Couple of Drakes (Court of Blades, Dead Belt, etc.) to make a game for the Songs and Sagas Game Jam alongside of them, with the theme being “jam”. We couldn’t pass it up.
We’re deep in developing Midnight Muscadines, where you take on the roll of Marmateers in a world of waning magic, where elusive grapes (muscadines!) collect and concentrate the last sources of magic. Marmateers preserve this magic into jams, and add in additional ingredients to change the magic jam’s effects.
And, well, we love the idea and the game so much, that we are making it a full-sized game now! In the initial release, there will be 25 ingredients to alter your magic, 15-20 creatures in the bestiary, 6 character backgrounds to choose from, navigation mechanics, a guide to the world of Nimm, and quite a few pieces of artwork.
The world we’re building is also very exciting. The Lands of Nimm are lit by the last four shards of the shattered sun, and the Wildernight, where twilight reigns supreme. Players venture into the Wildernight to bring back magic to Nimm and keep the sun shards aloft, but echos of the dead and imprisoned gods of night and day still reverberate throughout the world.
We have brought back the team that made Substratum Protocol to work on it: Art by Galen Pejeau, editing by Eric Lazure, and design consulting by René-Pier Deshaies-Gélinas.
The first version of Midnight Muscadines will be available by the end of the game jam in a month.
We also want to encourage you to join the Game Jam yourself! Songs and Sagas is a very approachable game system, and there are a ton of resources to help you create your first or hundredth game. Check out what has already been submitted for inspiration, too. We’d love to see what you make!
This is fantastically cute!
